Stained Glass for Beginners Course

Our ten week courses run on Mondays

Morning - 10:00 to 12:30

Afternoon - 1:30 to 4:00

Evenings - 6:30pm - 9:00pm.

Our August sessions are up and running through to October.  Our next sessions will start at the end of October.

Project one: Traditional stained glass window hanging

For your first project you will make a traditional stained glass window hanging, measuring 15cm x 15cm.

You will learn all the basic skills needed to make a stained glass window hanging such as:

 • Selecting suitable glass.

 • Soldering.

 • Scoring and breaking glass to fit a pattern.

 • Attaching support rings.

 • Grinding glass.

 • Cementing.

 • Lead cutting.

 • Finishing.

Project Two: Individual Project

Once you have completed your traditional lead window hanging, you can move on to your own personal projects. We will work with you to select, plan and source materials for your personal piece, (please note that you will have to purchase the glass for your personal project).

The only constraint to completing your project is time; it usually takes a student about ten hours to do the first project. Each student has about 15 hours in class to complete their personal project. We will help you plan out your project, to ensure that it is finished in the time you have available.
